This is a wonderful garden with a nice little lunch restaurant and shop. Bigger garden centre closer to the exit. Lots of people make this a whole family day out as you can picknick in the ground if you don't fancy the restaurant or cafe.No dogs allowed which is nice for us less keen on them. The space is accessible and they even rent mobility scooters for those that need.All in all a really nice day out.
A beautifully designed and maintained garden full of specimen plants and trees. For younger visitors, there are activities including a brilliant tree house. The gardens have two separate cafes, one near the entrance serving excellent buffet style food, and the other a cafe on the other side of the gardens which is generally much quieter. There is also a garden centre and a shop which is stocked with the sort of items which are normally found in a National Trust properties. Most main walking routes around the gardens are suitable for buggies/wheel chairs and won't be muddy on wet days.
This was the first time we visited here, there was myself, my daughter and 3 grandchildren. We went to take part in the 12 days of Christmas trail. The children looked for each clue and took part in the activities associated with that numbered clue and stamped their sheet once they had done so. The gardens are lovely and there's a nice caf and clean toilets. I did feel it was pricey for the walk around the gardens for me and my daughter at something like 10+ each plus 2.50 for each child to do the trail (only 1 in my case) but if I was a member it would have been cheaper. It was a nice morning out.
Great place to visit for all ages. Lots of easy walking and accessible paths, and some more challenging needing wellies or boots.Plant information leaflets, children's play areas, cafes, toilets, parking.Special school holiday activities.
I've visited in all seasons now, there are picturesque scenes and the beautiful details of the plants. The website details any extras happening. I'm not a parent so haven't checked out climbing areas but always hear happy children as I pass them.
